How to Add Pregnancy Weeks to Google Calendar
If Google Calendar already holds your work, travel, and family plans, adding your pregnancy timeline there can make the weeks easier to see in context.
Start by creating your dates with the pregnancy calendar generator. The result includes a downloadable ICS file, a standard calendar format that Google Calendar can import.
What Gets Added
The download contains an all-day entry for each completed pregnancy week, with a short week description. These are general planning entries, not appointments, medical reminders, or a personalized care schedule.
Once imported, the entries behave like other Google Calendar events. You can edit their titles, add private notes, change notifications, or remove anything you do not want.
How to Import the Calendar into Google Calendar
Google Calendar's ICS import is usually easiest from a computer:
- Generate your timeline on PregnancyCal.
- Select Download Calendar File to save the ICS file.
- Open Google Calendar in a browser.
- Open Settings, then Import & export.
- Choose the downloaded file, select the destination calendar, and import it.
Google occasionally changes labels and menu locations, so use its current help instructions if your screen looks different.
Create a Separate Calendar First
Before importing, consider creating a new Google Calendar named “Pregnancy.” A separate calendar lets you:
- Give the weekly entries their own color
- Hide or show the entire timeline in one click
- Share only those entries with a partner or support person
- Remove and re-import the timeline more cleanly if the estimated due date changes
Review Google's sharing settings before inviting anyone. Sharing a calendar can reveal every event on that calendar, including notes you add later.
If Your Estimated Due Date Changes
Delete the old pregnancy calendar or its imported entries, create a new timeline with the updated date from your prenatal care team, and import the new ICS file. Removing the old version first helps prevent duplicate weeks.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a Google account?
Yes. Importing into Google Calendar requires a Google account.
Will the imported entries sync to my phone?
They should appear anywhere that the same Google Calendar is enabled. Sync timing and notification behavior depend on your Google Calendar and device settings.
Does importing create medical appointments?
No. The file contains general week-by-week planning entries only. Add confirmed appointments separately using information from your healthcare provider.
